Here in this article we will discuss how to create traffic shaping policy for specific website.
First you need to create traffic shaping policy under system services >> traffic shaping
Name: Give any name
Policy Association: Web Categories
Limit: It means user traffic will be limited, users cannot cross the mentioned bandwidth. When we select Limit option we will get only one tab as shown below
Guarantee: If we select guarantee option, then users will get minimum guarantee bandwidth which is mentioned. If we select guarantee option, then we will get two tabs. One is to enter minimum bandwidth and other is to enter maximum bandwidth as shown below.
Limit upload/download separately:
If we disable this option, both upload and download traffic will be counted as one and QOS will be applied on that.
If we enable this option, QOS will be applied on upload and download traffic separately. Suppose if download traffic crosses the limit, still you can upload traffic.
You can select the priority of the traffic based on your business requirement.
In the guarantee or limit tab, you can enter the required bandwidth limit. The important point here is, we need to mention the bandwidth in Bytes/second not bits per second.
Bandwidth Usage Type:
Individual: Allocated bandwidth is for the particular User/Rule/Web Category/Application only.
Shared: Allocated bandwidth is shared among all the Users/Rules/Web Categories/Applications who have been assigned this policy.
Here is the sample traffic shaping policy:
After creating the policy save it.
Now the next step is to create custom category for one website and add traffic shaping policy to the specific category.
Click on Web and categories tab as shown below:
Name: Give name for category.
Classification: Give classification type.
Traffic shaping policy: Enter the created traffic shaping policy.
Domain/keyword: Enter the required URL
Click on save.
Now enter user activities tab as shown below and add the newly created web site category to the user activity.
Now click on policies tab and add this user activity to the web policy as shown below.
After creating the web policy for specific website, you can add it to the firewall rule as shown below.
In the bottom section of the same firewall rule, you will notice web filtering section. Add the created web policy to that section as shown in below image.
Now you have created web filtering for specific website.
Note: Make sure facebook traffic is flowing through this rule, only then traffic shaping will be properly applied.
You can refer this article to check if the facebook traffic is matching the rule.
Hope this article helps you.
